In Pakistan, being well-informed about your electricity dues is a fundamental aspect of responsible and cost-effective energy use. Today in this article, we will inform you about the major components of your LESCO bill.
What Is Reference Number
The reference number is provided on the right corner of your LESCO bill. It is not just a random number, its every digit contains specifications relating to the connections to which the reference number is allocated. It includes details about your area, location, division and provision etc, for more guidance see the given image:
What Is Consumer Number
Consumer number is the main component of the LESCO bill, which is provided by the DISCO. It can also be named as customer ID, which helps the company to manage the individual customer’s account.
This number has importance more than reference number because any change of circle, division or area results in changing the reference number respectively. The customer number is located at the top of your LESCO bill, it helps in tracing the actual account, no matter how much changes occur in the reference number.
It is not only an identification number but it also helps to know the billing details. If someone fails to receive their LESCO bill, he will find it by putting the consumer number in a relevant column on the LESCO Website.
What Is Tariff
The tariff column is located on the top right corner of the LESCO bill, which shows the specific category of consumer. This column is different from the GOP tariff column which shows the rates of units fixed. The tariff pattern looks like this: A-1b(03)T. The initial letters such as A, B and C indicate the primary consumer groups.
The connection begins with “A” if it is domestic and “B” if it is industrial. The numbers 1, 2 and small alphabets indicate the connection’s subcategory: for instance, “1b” indicates the three-phase connection. The TOU (Time of Use Energy Metering) billing structure is indicated by the alphabet “T”.
GOP Tariff Rates
GOP tariff rates are another main component of the LESCO bill. Any fluctuation in rates affects electricity cost. It is important to understand it, for calculating the costs of consumed energy. These rates depend on the types of consumers i.e, domestic, industrial. Moreover, these tariff rates kept changing on the order of authorities.
To calculate the energy cost, multiply these rates with the consumed units. In case of industrial connection, the energy cost shall be obtained by multiplying these rates with consumed units and multiple factors MF. GOP rates are provided by DISCO, which is shown in the below image:
What Is Meter Number
Energy cost is obtained by multiplying the GOP tariff rates with the consumed units. Meter readers are sent by the LESCO to record the reading. You can also check your own meter reading by matching the number of meters provided on your electricity bill.
The consumed units are obtained from the meter reading. In case of TOU, two separate readings of peak and off-peak units are mentioned. For more guidance, see the given image:
Consumption History
Previous consumption history is an integral part of the LESCO bill. No matter if the consumer is domestic or industrial, his bill must include a consumption history of the previous twelve months. Number of units and the cost of electricity included in this history.
